2013 Halloween Events On Kauai For Kids And Adults

It’s that wonderful time of year again when we get to wake up to pumpkin spice lattes and friendly neighborhood decorating rivalries – some of the only ways you can really tell it’s the ‘Fall season’ on Kauai. This time of year is a favorite for many Kauai residents, so don’t worry about missing out on Halloween if you’re vacationing on island – we celebrate it here.

Regardless of if you are a local resident looking for something new to do for Halloween, or if you’re a visitor looking for a festive place to bring the kids, Kauai has many things to do on Halloween, and below we’ve listed some popular Halloween and Fall events that you can attend.

Family-Friendly Fall Celebrations On Kauai

Kauai provides both visitors and residents with an unforgettable place to celebrate Halloween as it is so uniquely diverse, attracting a wonderful assortment of trick-or-treaters – both in costume and age. There are several family-friendly Kauai neighborhoods for trick-or-treating, as well as great community events, parties, and festivals put on by local churches and businesses. Here are 5 popular Halloween events on Kauai to bring the family to:

1. Kukui Grove’s Freaky Fridays & Saturdays

Each Friday and Saturday throughout the month of October, Kukui Grove Shopping Center offers their “Freaky Fridays & Saturdays” event for the kids to enjoy. A fundraiser for Aloha Dance Studio, kids can explore a haunted house, play carnival games, and be entertained by live theatrical performances.

2. Koloa Corn Maze

If you’re looking for a fun time trying to find your way through a Kauai corn maze, head over to Kauai Christian Fellowship church in Koloa. Taking the shape of a giant pumpkin at the center, their Corn Maze is back this year, and ready for you to get lost in! Spend an hour or two trying to find your way to the other side – or see if you get lost and simply turn into just another “Corn Maze Zombie.”

Please Note: If you do decide to go through the Corn Maze, be sure to bring some water (and a flashlight if attempting after dark).

3. Kauai Christian Academy’s 13th Annual Fall Festival

If you’re looking for a great place to celebrate the Fall season in an unforgettable island setting, don’t miss the annual Fall Festival at Kauai Christian Academy in Kilauea. This highly anticipated community event is well attended as it is a favorite among north shore residents. Not only is the atmosphere festive, the people are friendly, welcoming, and there to have a good time. (Don’t forget to wear your Halloween costume.)

4. Kukui Grove’s Halloween Family Festival

Dress up the kids, pile in the car, and head to Lihue. Each year Kukui Grove Shopping Center holds an annual Halloween celebration and lets you trick-or-treat throughout the mall. It’s a great place to let the kids run around, trick-or-treat, and enjoy some good food and entertainment. With covered walkways and entertainment areas, this will be a sure bet, rain or shine.

Enjoy a night of Halloween fun on Kauai at Kukui Grove’s outdoor shopping center from 4:00pm-6:30pm. Here is the evening schedule:

4:30pm – Halloween Howl (Boys) & Halloween Scream (Girls)

5. Ghoulish Golf Halloween Celebration

Kauai’s Anaina Hou Community Park is celebrating Halloween by helping raise funds for the Kauai Food Bank with their Ghoulish Golf Annual Food Drive. If you are looking to support a good cause on Halloween and attend a Halloween celebration the whole family will enjoy, we recommend heading to Kauai’s north shore and attending the Ghoulish Golf Halloween Celebration at the Kauai Mini Golf Course. Come dressed up in a Halloween costume and golf for half price all day! You will also get an additional dollar off of admission for every canned food item you donate.

Adult-Only Kauai Halloween Costume Parties (21+)

If you’re looking for a place to celebrate Halloween amongst adults, there are a few Kauai events inviting only 21 and over. Get creative with your costumes, as fun prizes are offered to the person who’s best dressed. It’s a night for dressing up, going out, and having endless fun – and remember to bring your I.D. – so you don’t miss out on any of the Halloween drink specials being offered throughout the evening.

1. Sin City 007 Halloween Party

Rob’s Good Times Grill presents the Sin City 007 Halloween Party. Offering Heineken drink specials all night long (or perhaps you’d prefer a martini?), this party will be one to remember. KauaiDJs.com presents the Cafe Portofino Halloween Dance Party. Meet at Cafe Portofino for this “Sexy Scary Mind Melting Event.” Claiming to be the hottest costume party on Kauai, here you can celebrate Halloween right on the beach at the Kauai Marriott. Get there before 11pm and you get in free. Cash prizes will be given away for best and sexiest costumes – so make sure to put on your Halloween best. Music and visuals by DJ Maximillian.

3. Trees Lounge Halloween Bash

Located behind Coconut Marketplace and adjacent to Islander on the Beach, Trees Lounge offers the perfect atmosphere for those looking for a nice place to celebrate Halloween. Stop by Trees Lounge in Kapaa on Halloween night for their 2013 Halloween Bash with live music from Battery Alley.

This is a relatively new restaurant serving up a fusion of Jamaican, New Orleans, and Hawaiian cuisine. Trees Lounge offers pupu style and sharable portions, making this a perfect Kauai hang out on Halloween. Come for the food, live music, and, of course, the fun.

Trick-Or-Treating On Halloween

This year, the hardest part about celebrating Halloween on Kauai might just be deciding on where you want to be!
