Thousands of Afghans who worked as interpreters for the U.S. military during the war in Afghanistan were promised visas that would grant them and their families safe passage to America. But nearly all of them were left behind when America pulled out of the war. Now, the Taliban rulers see them as traitors, and 300 of them have been hunted down and killed. GUY RICHIE’S THE COVENANT is a powerful fictional drama about one Afghan interpreter (Dar Salim) and the U.S. Army sergeant (Jake Gyllenhaal) who refused to abandon him. Director Guy Ritchie really knows how to film gripping action and to make us feel the strong unspoken bond between these two men.
